This is a photograph of three worshipers behind a barbed wire barrier. E. Clifton Daniel wrote: "Here you see a man on his knees behind the barbed wire on the site of Pilate's Palace. The site is now used a [sic] police barracks, hence the barbed wire. Beyond the kneeling man and the standing man is a Roman Catholic monk, also kneeling." This photograph was taken through the barbed wire barrier and is numbered "2." Worshipers on the Via Dolorosa or Way of the Cross in Jerusalem

This is a photograph on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem. E. Clifton Daniel Jr. wrote: "Here you see a bent old priest mounting the stairs to one of the churches on the route. An old woman kneels to pray. Behind her is a British soldier, bareheaded. At the bottom of the stairs is one of the alleyways of the Jerusalem Old City, filled with markets and stalls." This is a photograph of a young boy on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem. E. Clifton Daniel wrote: "This little boy carries a palm frond woven with flowers. For him it is Palm Sunday -- the day when Christ entered Jerusalem the week before his crucifixion. The Easter Sunday of the Orthodox Christian churches follows a week after that of our church. Hence, Easter Sunday for us is Palm Sunday for the Orthodox, including this little boy." This photograph is numbered "8". The child in the photograph is unidentified.

This is a photograph showing worshipers on the Via Dolorosa. E. Clifton Daniel Jr. wrote: "This scene . . . was taken on Easter Sunday. In the foreground are a Palestine Arab and two Arab policemen and in the background is the tower of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is supposed to stand on the site of Christ's tomb. The Church was filled all day with priests and pilgrims making processions around the Holy Sepulchre." This photograph is numbered "6".

People walk on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem. E. Clifton Daniel wrote: "This is simply a street scene in the Old City leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. On the right are merchants' stalls. On the left, a man looks at some cloth. Ahead is the tower of a Mosque (Moslem church) overlooking the courtyard of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre." This photograph is numbered "9".
