Description
This is a photograph on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem. E. Clifton Daniel Jr. wrote: "Here you see a bent old priest mounting the stairs to one of the churches on the route. An old woman kneels to pray. Behind her is a British soldier, bareheaded. At the bottom of the stairs is one of the alleyways of the Jerusalem Old City, filled with markets and stalls." This photograph is numbered "5." It is part of a series of ten photographs that record Daniel's experience in Jerusalem and is part of a group of photographs originally sent by E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. to his parents from Jerusalem.
