Political Cartoon, "Campaign Ribbons"

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Scott Long for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. General Dwight D. Eisenhower asking the Republican Party elephant mascot how many battles he had won. The elephant is depicted as wearing Purple Heart medals for 1932, 1936, 1940, 1944, and 1948. The lower part of the cartoon is inscribed, "To the man who gave him the fifth medal! - Scott Long."

This is a photograph of a political cartoon, "No Place for a Pole Squatter," by Jock Leyden. President Harry S. Truman and British Prime Minister Clement Attlee are depicted sitting on either side of a table labeled "Final Peace Terms." Sitting on the far side of the table is Joseph Stalin, sitting on a pole high above the table. The cartoon is from the Natal Daily News, Durban, Natal, South Africa.

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Jim Berryman. Alben Barkley (second from the right) is talking to President Harry S. Truman (right). Barkley is saying "Maybe we'd better try to get a little more for health insurance!" A man labeled as Congress is screaming, stamping on top of a paper labeled "Federal Budget," with papers with various billion dollar amounts, and another paper, "$250,000,000 for compulsory health insurance."
