Political Cartoon, "Campaign Ribbons"

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Scott Long for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. General Dwight D. Eisenhower asking the Republican Party elephant mascot how many battles he had won. The elephant is depicted as wearing Purple Heart medals for 1932, 1936, 1940, 1944, and 1948. The lower part of the cartoon is inscribed, "To the man who gave him the fifth medal! - Scott Long."

Political Cartoon, "No Place for a Pole Squatter"

This is a photograph of a political cartoon, "No Place for a Pole Squatter," by Jock Leyden. President Harry S. Truman and British Prime Minister Clement Attlee are depicted sitting on either side of a table labeled "Final Peace Terms." Sitting on the far side of the table is Joseph Stalin, sitting on a pole high above the table. The cartoon is from the Natal Daily News, Durban, Natal, South Africa.

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by John M. Baer. The cartoon depicts Harry S. Truman in boxing ring just haven beaten "Wood Bill" being carried on stretcher by Charles Halleck and Joseph Martin, Truman saying "That's Only The First Round!" Robert Taft is on the sidelines with "Taft-Donnell-Smith Bill" saying to the bill, "You're Next! Climb In There And Sock The Champ!!" Artists' signature bottom left corner, along with "Ring Side!" Inscribed bottom right corner, "To Hon. Harry S. Truman- a true friend of workers John M. Baer In 'Labor'".

Political Cartoon on the Federal Budget

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Jim Berryman. Alben Barkley (second from the right) is talking to President Harry S. Truman (right). Barkley is saying "Maybe we'd better try to get a little more for health insurance!" A man labeled as Congress is screaming, stamping on top of a paper labeled "Federal Budget," with papers with various billion dollar amounts, and another paper, "$250,000,000 for compulsory health insurance."

Political Cartoon, "Old Deal vs. Fair Deal"

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by John M. Baer." The cartoon is in two scenes: top scene 1921-'33 depicts Old-Time Tory letting Farmer drown. Farmer screaming, "Help! Help!" Old-Time Tory replying, "Oh, Let Him Drown!". Below scene depicts HST throwing life support, Farm-Support Program, to drowning Farmer. Farmer saying, "I'm Getting In A Little Deep, Harry!". Harry S. Truman replies, "Don't Worry! This Will Save You!" Inscribed bottom right corner, "To a loyal friend of all producers- Hon. Harry Truman".

Political Cartoon, "Something Fishy All Right!"

This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Burris Jenkins, Jr. The cartoon depicts men throwing away many trashcans full of stinky fish into a truck, labeled "National Sanitation Dept." Two of the fish are labeled "REMINGTON" and "HISS." Truman watches from a window and says, "BUT THEY'RE ONLY RED HERRING." This cartoon was in reaction to the House Committee on Un-American Activities' accusations against federal employees including William Remington and Alger Hiss. Truman called these accusations a "red herring."
