Jackson McBride (left) of Honolulu, Hawaii, shakes hands with the Chief of Police of Independence, Missouri (unidentified) while standing on the "Liberty Bell Brigade" truck, parked at the north entrance to the Harry S. Truman Library. The truck carries a replica of the Liberty Bell and a sign which reads: "It tolls for thee. Hawaii's Liberty Bell. Help free our statehood bill. Write, wire, call your congressman."
