Truman greeting visitors at North entrance of Truman Library
Former President Harry S. Truman (second from left) greets some unknown visitors to the Harry S. Truman Library at the Library's North entrance. The Independence Chief of Police (not named) can be seen behind Truman entering the building. The occasion is the arrival of the "Liberty Bell Brigade" truck driven by Jackson McBride of Honolulu, Hawaii, which carries a replica of the Liberty Bell. The truck also has a sign proclaiming: "It tolls for thee. Hawaii's Liberty Bell. Help free our statehood bill. Write, wire, call your congressman." From: Anne L. Hayes.
