Harry Truman Vice-Presidential Nomination ceremony in Chicago, July 21, 1944. Some of the events of Harry Truman's nomination at the Democratic Convention in 1944 and his acceptance were re-created at the same convention center with descendants of the original people reading their words. Bill Hannegan read the speech of his father, Robert Hannegan; Clifton Truman Daniel read the nominating speech of Sen. Bennett Champ Clark; Steven Kelly read the words of welcome of his father, Mayor Ed Kelly. Niel Johnson read Harry Truman's acceptance remarks. Professor Robert Ferrell also spoke at the event in the Chicago Stadium. (This video was, according to a note on the box, donated to the Library by Bill Hannegan. After the segment on the July 21, 1994 ceremony, there is part of a documentary taped from the Discovery Channel, entitled "Sea Wings," about air power in the cold war era). VHS videotape.
