The President left Washington, D. C. at 10:32 a.m. by plane from the National Airport. He arrived at Key West, Florida at 3:22 p.m. EST and was received at the Boca Chica Naval Airfield by Mayor A. Maitland Adams, City Manager George Spalding, et al. Immediately following this reception the Party motored to the Little White House at the Submarine Base, arriving at 3:45 p.m. The Party remained at the House for the rest of the evening, dining at 7:00 p.m., after which the President retired for the evening.

The President left Key West by plane at 4:00 a.m. for San Juan, Puerto Rico. He arrived at the Isla Grand Airport at 10:30 a.m. He was given the honors and made an inspection of the guard. The President made a few remarks which were translated into Spanish. At 11:00 a.m. the President and his party took a sightseeing tour by automobile visiting industrial areas developed by Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company - glass bottle factory, cement factory and boxboard plant; the Puerto Nuevo low- cost housing development; the Bayamon District Hospital and Aguas Buenas. At 12:30 p.m. the President attended a luncheon at the Hotel Jagueyes, Aguas Buenas. The President then took a motor trip from Aguas Buenas to the Naval Base at San Juan, passing through El Fanquito (slum area) en route. The President then returned to the USS WILLIAMSBURG for a rest. He later took a sightseeing tour by automobile to El Morro, passing through San Cristobal en route. Later in the evening, the President attended an informal reception at La Fortaleza where there were approximately 500 guests. In the evening the President gave a stag buffet dinner aboard the USS WILLIAMSBURG for Governor Pinero and his immediate staff and top-ranking Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine officials, present in San Juan.

The President left San Juan for St. Thomas at 3:30 a.m. aboard the USS WILLIAMSBURG. The President arrive at the West India Dock, Charlotte Amalie at 10:30 a.m. At 11:00 a.m. he departed the dock for a sightseeing tour by automobile. He stopped at Emancipation Park for a ten-minute ceremony where he made a few brief remarks while unveiling a plaque marking the 100th anniversary of the emancipation of the peoples of the Virgin Islands. The President then attended a stag luncheon at the Bluebeard Castle Hotel where there were about 50 guests. The President motored to the USS WILLIAMSBURG where he rested. Later in the afternoon the President attended an informal reception at the Government House. There were about 250 guests present. He then returned to the USS WILLIAMSBURG. The President gave a stag buffet dinner aboard the USS WILLIAMSBURG for Governor Hastie and St. Thomas officials.

The President left St. Thomas at 5:30 a.m. aboard the USS WILLIAMSBURG and proceded to Fredericksted, St. Croix, arriving at 9:30 a.m. He disembarked about 10:30 a.m. and departed for a sightseeing tour by automobile of the Island. He made a few remarks at the Government House at Christiansted, St. Croix. The President motored back to Frederikstead for his lunch and then returned to the USS WILLIAMSBURG. The USS WILLIAMSBURG left St. Croix at 2:00 p.m. for the Guantanamo Naval Base.

The President arrived at Guantanamo Harbor at 1:40 p.m. aboard the USS WILLIAMSBURG. He anchored at the Officers' Club Landing and with his official party went ashore. Upon arrival, the President was greeted by Captain Battle and honors were rendered. Thereafter, the President inspected the Marine Honor Guard. Following this the President and Party motored to the Officers' Club for luncheon. There were about 40 guests present. About 3:15 p.m. the President and Party were con- ducted on a motor tour of the base. This tour ended at the Naval Air Station where the President and Party took an army plane for the return trip to Key West, Florida. They were airborn at 3:45 p.m. and arrived at Key West Naval Air Base (Boca Chica) at 6:30 p.m. Upon arriving, the President held an informal Press Conference at the airfield before returning to the Little White House. The President then motored to the Little White House and he and his Party retired for the evening.

The President arose at 7:30 a.m. and breakfasted with other members of his immediate party. At 10:00 a.m. the President accompanied by his staff, except Secretary Matthew Connelly and Admiral William Leahy, walked through the Submarine Base to the beach, where they indulged in sun bathing and a short swim until 12:00 noon, when he and the others returned to the Little White House. Luncheon was served at 1:00 p.m. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in general relaxation in and about the house. Dinner was served at 7:30 p.m., following which the President and party remained at the house and later retired to respective rooms.

The President arose at 7:00 a.m. and breakfasted. The President dictated to Jack Romagna from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Accompanied by his staff with the exception of Captain Robert L. Dennison, Admiral William Leahy and Secretary Matthew Connelly, the President departed the Little White House at 10:00 a.m. and walked through the Naval Base to the beach where he and his party indulged in sun bathing and swimming until 12:00 noon. They departed the beach at 12:05 p.m. and motored to the house, the President driving. Luncheon was served at 1:00 p.m. The remainder of the day was spent in general relaxation in and about the Little White House. There were no further activities for this date. Dinner was served at 7:00 p.m.

The President arose at 7:15 a.m. and breakfasted. At 9:00 a.m. Mr. Neal Helm arrived. Read Admiral Robbins called at 9:45 a.m. and paid his respects to the President. At 10:00 a.m. the President, accompanied by Captain Robert L. Dennison, departed the Little White House and walked to Pier Number 5, where he was received by Captains Adel and Daspit, who escorted him aboard the submarine "Requin" 481 for an inspection tour. Still and newsreel pictures were taken of the President upon his arrival at the pier, boarding the submarine, etc. The President completed his tour at 10:30 a.m., following which he proceeded afoot to the beach. While en route the President shook hands with some small children, and posed with them for pictures. On arrival at the beach the President was joined by Secretary Matthew Connelly, Neal Helm, Stanley Woodward and Eben Ayers. From 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon, the President and party indulged in sunbathing, but no swimming. They departed the beach at 12:05 p.m. and motored to the Little White House, the President driving. Luncheon was served at 1:00 p.m. The remainder of the day was spent in general relaxation.

The President arose at 7:15 a.m. and breakfasted, following which he read the papers at 9:20 a.m., and accompanied by General Harry Vaughan, Captain Robert L. Dennison, Admiral William Leahy, etc., departed the Little White House and walked to the chapel where he attended services this date. After services, the President walked to the beach where he indulged in sun- bathing and a short swim. At 12:00 noon, the President returned to the Little White House by motor, with the President driving. Luncheon was served at 1:00 p.m. Former Governor Cox and Mr. Mahoney arrived at 11:30 a.m., from Miami and were guests at the luncheon. They departed at 2:30 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., the President, accompanied by members of his staff, departed the house and walked to the residence of Captain Adel, who was having a reception in honor of the President. At 6:00 p.m., the President departed the reception and returned to the Little White House. Dinner was served at 7:00 p.m. At 10:00 p.m. the President delivered his radio address, launching the Red Cross Drive.

The President arose at 7.00 a.m. and breakfasted after which he read until 10.00 a.m. when he held a press conference on the lawn of the Little White House. Still and newsreel pictures were taken of this conference. At 10.25 a.m. accompanied by most of his staff, the President departed the House and walked to the beach, where he again indulged in sun bathing and a short swim until 12.00 noon, when he drove back to the house by motor.

Luncheon was served at 12.30 p.m. At 1.30 p.m., the President and his entire staff departed the house and walked to the dock in front of the Administration Building, where they embarked in two crash boats for a fishing trip to the American Shoals, some twenty miles east of the base.
The party was divided in the following manner: aboard the "DOLPHIN" were the President, Colonel Robert Landry, Secretaries Matthew Connelly and William Hassett, General Graham and Mr. Clark Clifford.
