Mr. Woodward has emphasized to Egyptian Embassy that this is a courtesy, rather than a business call, in order to avoid another disussion of the Palestine question.)

The President and his guests departed the White House at 1.40 p.m. and motored direct to "Shangri- La," arriving at the main lodge at 3.45 p.m.
At 8.00 p.m., the President, accompanied by Admiral James H. Foskett, Captain C. Lawrence Freeman, SA Rowley, ADC Champion, and Agent Sherwood, attended the picture, "Dear Ruth" which was screened in the main Navy mess hall. Following the showing of this motion picture, the President returned to the lodge and retired for the evening.

Admiral William Leahy, General Harry Vaughan, and Mr. Clark Clifford arrived at the camp where they were greeted by the President who was awaiting them in front of the main lodge.
The President, accompanied by Admiral William Leahy, Admiral James Foskett, General Harry Vaughan, Captain Freeman, and Mr. Clark Clifford, went swimming, returning to the main lodge at 1.45 p.m.
Dr. John Steelman and Secretary Charles Ross arrived at the main lodge of the camp.
The President, accompanied by all of his guests, walked over to the guest lodge, also known as the small family lodge, and inspected it, returning to the main lodge at 6.10 p.m.
The President, accompanied by Admiral William Leahy, Secretary Charles Ross, and Dr. John R. Steelman, drove to the crippled children's camp in the convertible Cadillac, the President driving on this occasion. Admiral James Foskett, General Harry Vaughan, and Captain Freeman accompanied the President in the follow-up car. Upon arrival at the camp, the President and his staff were received by Mr. Ernest Marx, Director of the Camp, and Miss Mary E. Church, Executive Director of the Maryland League for Crippled Children, which organization sponsors this camp. They then escorted the party to the main recreation hall where all the children were assembled. The President addressed a few words to the children, thanking them for their kind invitation, and after shaking hands with a few of the children departed the hall. There are 106 children at this camp and 43 members of the staff. This camp was formerly a Marine camp, which was known as Camp #2, and is located approximately one and one-half miles from the main lodge. These children spend their vacations here for a period of eight weeks, commencing July 1st and concluding August 25th. After bidding Mr. Marx and Miss Church good-bye at 10.25 a.m., the President, accompanied by Admiral James Foskett, General Harry Vaughan, Captain Freeman, and Lt. Commander William Rigdon, walked back to the main lodge, arriving at 10.45a.m.
The President and his staff went swimming.

The President and his party departed the main lodge for the return trip to Washington by motor. The President, however, proceeded direct to the Silver Spring station of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, while the remainder of his party went direct to the White House. The President arrived at the Silver Spring station at 11.53 a.m., where he awaited the arrival of Mrs. Truman, who arrived aboard the "Diplomat" from Independence at 12.20 p.m., EDST. At 12.24 p.m., they departed the Silver Spring station and proceeded direct to the White House, arriving at 12.42 p.m.
