Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. Theodore Roosevelt, 3rd Theodore Roosevelt, 4th Colonel J. Callam O'Laughlin (To present to the President a set of historic stamps which have been gotten up by a group who hope, thru sale of these stamps, to finance free library as memorial to General Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. It is to be erected at Oyster Bay. She will also present to the President a booklet of the General's life. This appointment was originally set for May 27th but because of the President's absence in Kansas City, it had to be postponed.

Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt lunched with the President, stayed on for a conference and drove with the President to the Lincoln Memorial, where at 4.00 they arrived and participated in the final conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Mrs. Roosevelt spoke at 4.19 p.m. and Mrs. Vinson accompanied the President and Mrs. Roosevelt to the Memorial in the President's car and the Attorney General and Mrs. Clark followed in their own car.

The President signed S. J. Res. 77, "Providing for membership and participation by the United States in the International Refugee Organization and authorizing an appropriation therefor". The following were present at the ceremony: Honorable John H. Hilldring, Assistant Secretary of State Mr. Goldthwaite Dorr, Office of the Secretary of State (The State Department thought this ceremony would help to get the organization off to a good start. Senator Vandenberg had hoped to come but had to attend meeting Committee on Foreign Relations which will discuss Anglo-American Oil question - so could not be away. Congressman Vorys had hoped to attend but was unable to come. Congressman Vorys is Chairman of the sub-committee in the House, and did most of work in getting the Bill through.)

This invitation has been carried from Ellensburg to Yakima, Washington by Pony Express in a replica of the original Wells-Fargo pouch. It was then sent to Washington, D. C. by Northwest Airlines plane, arriving here June 30th.)

Stern Mr. Sam Gates (Honorable Mark Gates arrived bearing engraved message of greetings to the President from Mr. Douglas of Douglas Aircraft Co., Inc., and signed by the men and women of the Santa Monica plant who worked on the President's new plane "Special Mission" DC-6. This plane was supposed to have reached Washington late yesterday, piloted by Colonel Myers and with the Mayor and group aboard.)

(The President, accompanied by Admiral William Leahy, Secretary of the Treasury John Snyder, and other guests, departed the White House by motor at 2.20 p.m.(DST) and arrived at the Woodward estate (Colle) in Charlottesville, Virginia, at 4.20 p.m.(EST), where they were greeted by their host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Woodward. Mr. Charles Ross and Mr. Clark Clifford were also guests of Mr. and Mrs. Woodward. Mr. Reinsch, Mr. Eben Ayers, and Mr. Jack Romagna registered at the Monticello Hotel in Charlottesville. Mr. William Hassett did not make the trip. Secretary John Snyder remained at the residence as a guest of Mr. Stanley Woodward for dinner and departed at 11.00 p.m. for the Farmington Club where he was the week-end guest of Mr. Frank K. Houston, President of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation.)
