President Harry S. Truman's speech at the Hotel Sherman, Chicago, IL. The President spoke at 9:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Sherman. During his remarks he referred to Governors James F. Byrnes of South Carolina, Allan Shivers of Texas, and Robert F. Kennon of Louisiana, General of the Army George C. Marshall, Chief of Staff of the Army, 1939-45, Gen. Albert C. Wedemeyer, and Dean Acheson, Secretary of State. The address was broadcast.
