Dr. Henry G. Bennett: Interview, Speech, and Memorial Service

This recording is a compilation of three items related to Dr. Henry G. Bennett, president of Oklahoma A&M and director of the Point Four program. Part 1: Gene Shipley, farm reporter for WIBW news, interviews Dr. Bennett in Stillwater, OK. Dr. Bennett speaks on the post-World War II status of Oklahoma A & M College and its welcoming of military veterans as students. He gives many details about the campus, housing, curriculum, and student population. This interview lasts 8:30. Part 2: Dr. Bennett is heard speaking to the alumni of A & M College about the status of the college.

President Truman's Remarks at the Dedication of a Memorial Plaque Honoring Pvt. Leslie Coffelt

President Harry S. Truman's remarks at the dedication of a Memorial Plaque honoring Pvt. Leslie Coffelt. The President spoke at 12:40 p.m. at the Blair House in Washington. In his opening words he referred to Capt. Russell B. Wine, U.S. Army, national president of the National Sojourners. Private Coffelt, a member of the White House Police, was killed during the assassination attempt on the President on November 1, 1950. The plaque was presented by the National Sojourners, a patriotic military Masonic organization. Private Coffelt was a Mason.

Eddie Jacobson Memorial Chapel Plaque

A photo of the Eddie Jacobson Memorial Chapel plaque. It reads "Eddie Jacobson endeared himself to his friends and neighbors of every faith; served his country during war; held his friendships inviolate; gave of his time and funds unstintingly; and fervently persevered to make the state of Israel a reality. He helped to make possible a haven for persecuted Jews throughout the world." This is similar to 66-150. Mr. Jacobson was a good friend of President Truman.
