Women's Army Corps (WAC) Technician Thelma M. Mersch Laces Up the New Field Boots

Women's Army Corps (WACs) Technician (T/5) Thelma M. Mersch of Cincinnati, Ohio is wearing the new field uniform chosen by the WACs. This uniform was considered the most practical for field tent work and consisted of field boots, "High Top" slacks and wool shirt. Mersch was stationed with the WAC 6669th Headquarters Platoon supporting the Fifth Army stationed somewhere in the Sparanise area of Italy.

Women's Army Corps (WAC) Soldier Dorothy Kengle Talks with WAC Sergeant Bertha Benninghoff

WAC Technician 5 Dorothy E. Kengle of Tulsa, Oklahoma, "has solved her stocking problem by merely joining the WACs. Now when they run dotty merely runs to the supply room and salvages them for a new pair." She is shown getting stockings from Sergeant Bertha C. Benninghoff of Edina, Minnesota. Both women are serving in the Fifth Army, San Marco Area, Italy.

This is a nighttime photo of Westport Men's Wear Company owned by Eddie Jacobson. It was at the corner of 39th and Main Street in Kansas City, Missouri. The sign over the door reads, "Arrow Shirts" and below that, "Botany 500." The signs above the awnings are the same both left and right. Presentation of Bess Truman Dress to Cole County Historical Society

Lieutenant Governor James Blair (right) of Missouri transferring the gown of Mrs. Bess W. Truman to three women representing the Cole County Historical Society, Jefferson City, Missouri. Mrs. North, Mrs. Hobbs, and Miss Henwood of the Society receiving. The ceremony took place in the Governor's reception room of the State Capitol. This is one of the gowns worn by Mrs. Truman during the various Inaugural festivities in 1949.
