White, Executive Secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, who served as chairman of the conference, and to former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and Senator Wayne Morse who also spoke. The address was carried on a nationwide radio broadcast.

Leahy, Chief of Staff to the Commander in Chief of the U.S. Army and Navy; General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, Chief of Staff, U.S. Army; Ambassador Henri Bonnet and Madame Bonnet; and Mayor Georges Pierre Lavalley of St. Lo, France. The commander of the 35th Division in Europe during World War II, Maj. Gen. Paul W. Baade, also attended the reunion.

EST. The President spoke at 2 p.m. at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. His opening words "Mr. President" referred to Robert McLean, publisher of the Philadelphia Bulletin and president of the Associated Press, who served as chairman at the luncheon.
