Gen. Frederick A. Irving, Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, General of the Army Omar N. Bradley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dr. Karl T. Compton, Chairman of the Corporation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Frank Pace, Jr., Secretary of the Army, Dan A. Kimball, Secretary of the Navy, and Thomas K. Finletter, Secretary of the Air force.

The President spoke at 9:32 p.m. in the presidential Room of the Statler Hotel in Washington, D.C. In his opening words he referred to Francis Biddle, former Attorney General of the United States, and national chairman of the Americans for Democratic Action. Later he referred to, among others, Henry A. Wallace, candidate for President in 1948 on the Progressive Party ticket, Robert A. Taft, Senator from Ohio, Thomas E. Dewey, Governor of New York, General of the Army Dwight D.

President Harry S. Truman's remarks to Mr. and Mrs. Josef Zyllka and their children, the last displaced persons to be admitted into the United States under provisions of the Displaced Persons Act of 1948, and a group of representatives of voluntary agencies and state displaced persons commissions. The President spoke at 3:40 p.m. in the Rose Garden at the White House to the last group of refugees to be admitted into this country under the provisions of the Displaced Persons Act of 1948 (62 Stat. 1009).
