Description

Caretaker of Fort Jefferson, Russell A. Gibbs, guides the presidential party atop Fort Jefferson National Historic Site in Dry Tortugas, Florida. The party includes: President Harry S. Truman (second from left), Admiral William Leahy, Edwin Locke, John Steelman, Press Secretary Charles G. Ross (plaid cap), newspaper correspondent Felix Belair (hand cupped to ear), and Chief C.J. Langello, USN. President Truman visited the Dry Tortugas Islands during his vacation in Key West. All others are unidentified. From the album of the President's vacation trip to Key West, Florida.
