This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Bruce Russell for the Los Angeles Times, originally published in 1946. Entitled "The Man in the Saddle," President Harry S. Truman sits in a saddle appearing to be in midair because there is nothing beneath him. In the background is the Capitol Building and Washington Monument. Mr. Truman has a quizzical look on his face.
