This is an early commercial photograph of streetcars in Damascus, Syria. In the background, the Sinaniyeh Mosque can be seen. The mosque was built in 1591 and is noted for the heavy use of decorative tiles used throughout. Part of a group of photographs originally sent by E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. to his mother.
