Description
This is a commercial photograph of Herbert Samuel Square, now known as Knesset Square, in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The Square was originally named after Herbert Samuel, the first High Commissioner in Tel Aviv who visited in 1922. On the back of the photograph E. Clifton Daniel wrote: "This is probably the newest city in the world, built up from the sand dunes in 2.0 years by Jewish settlers. I flew over it last week." The photograph shows a circular fountain which also serves as a traffic roundabout. Part of a group of photographs originally sent by E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. to his mother.
