Description
View of dignitaries attending a formal military ceremony held in the port of Brindisi, Italy. At this time the United States turned over two destroyers and six gunboats to the Italian Navy. Brindisi was located just 70 miles from Soviet dominated Albania. United States Ambassador to Italy (1946-1952) James C. Dunn is walking in the front row on the left. Next to him is the Italian Minister of Defense Randolfo Pacciardi. Directly behind Dunn in Navy uniform is U.S. Navy Admiral Robert B. Carney. Behind Carney and just to the left is U.S. Congressman Joseph W. Martin, Jr. Others in view are not identified.
