The Mayor flew here to thank City of Albany, which had adopted Nijmegen, for having sent 250 tons of relief supplies to that battered city. He is also visiting Major General James Gavin, Commanding General of the Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. General Wallace was in the action at Nijmegen, where 800 American soldiers lost their lives. Bishop Friedrich Otto Dibelius (Mr. Taylor asked to bring in Bishop Dibelius of Berlin. Describes Dibelius as ranking Protestant prelate in Berlin, presides over union of Lutheran and Reformed churches; his diocese according to last statistics had membership of about 5 1/2 million people, divided in 84 districts with 2,292 congregations. Is also friend of the higher clergy of Lutheran Church in America. Took very strong stand against Nazism during war and was demoted and sent to small parish in south Germany. Later arrested for ordaining men to ministry in secrecy, was imprisoned for long time, finally tried for treason and acquitted.)
