The President received the judges for the Raymond Clapper Memorial Award. They are as follows: Mr. Louis B. Seltzer, Editor, Cleveland Press Mr. Philip L. Graham, Publisher, Washington Post Mr. Ralph McGill, Editor, Atlanta Constitution Mr. Barry Faris, Editor, Internation News Service Honorable A. S. Mike Monroney, former newspaperman and now a Member of Congress (This request came to Mr. Charles Ross from the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Correspondents, of Press Gallery at the Capitol. These judges assemble in Washington to study exhibits from nominees and make their decision. The decision will be announced at the White House Correspondents Annual Dinner, March 1st.)

Demerec, Vera Radoslava Eisenberg, Jerome Martin Emrick, Donald Day Felsenfeld, Gary Gordon, Milton Paul Gregory, Jr., Clarence Leslie Halverson, Phillip Carl Haugh, Eugene Frederick Hayes, John Richard Hersey, Anne House, Herbert Otis Inman, Charles Gordon Kamb, Walter Barclay Karplus Martin Kopple, Kenneth David McKenna, James McLeish, William Lee Mattuck, Arthur Paul Maynard, Donald More Nagy, Irene Elizabeth Pike, John Nazarian Radack, Herbert Brahm Relyea, Douglas Irving Rennagel, William Robert Self, Cecilia Maud Semiat, Paula B. Patterson Mr. Norman Scharr (This is the group which the President received while Vice President and intended to receive again last year. However, their visit conincided with his visit to Fulton, Missouri so Mrs. Truman received them on the President's behalf. During past five years 200 young men and women have been chosen through the Science Talent Search. They have been given scholarships to proceed with college educations in their chosen fields of science. According to Director, Watson Davis, all 200 give promise of becoming contributing research scientists so urgently needed by our country. They asked the President to present the awards at the Award Banquet at the Statler, which was turned down.)

Senator Alexander Wiley, Wis. Alexander Wiley Wilde, (Grandson of the Senator) Mr. Eugene Haugh (Brought the President some presents from Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Eugene Haugh being from that town. The presents are woolen goods and butter. Haugh was one of the winners of the Science Service Search who called on the President yesterday.)
