The President signed a message, to be included in a brochure which the War Department will send with an accompanying letter, to the next of kin of members of the Armed Forces who died in World War II, to determine their wishes concerning return and final burial of deceased. This is in accordance with the provisions of Public Law 383. This brochure will explain burial options available and fix priority of authority among relatives on matters of final disposition. Accompanying the letter and brochure will be a form which an authorized person must fill out and return to the Quartermaster General. Under Secretary Royall requested that there be a brief ceremony of this signing, attended by him and the Quartermaster General, with appropriate War Department photogra- phers to record the ceremony for release at a later date appropriate with the progress of the "repatriation" plans.
