Truman, he was a foreign service officer at Moscow, 1945-1947; Consul General, 1947; Chief, Division of Eastern European Affairs in the Department of State, 1948-1950; Director, Office of Easter European Affairs, 1950; and Counsellor of Embassy, Paris, 1951-1955.
