Truman's remarks of welcome to Prime Minister De Gasperi of Italy upon his arrival at Union Station in Washington, DC. The President spoke at 9:15 a.m. Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi responded as follows: "I thank you, Mr. President, for your cordial welcome. I am certain we will discuss matters for common defense, for peace, and regarding the interests of both our countries--America and Italy."

President Harry S. Truman's remarks on accepting for the American people a gift of ten original Audubon paintings, White House Rose Garden. Mr. E.J. Hallstrom, Australian businessman and philanthropist, presented to the President ten Audubon paintings, a gift to the U.S. Government, to be exhibited alternately by the National Art Gallery, the National Audubon Society, and the American Museum of Natural History.
