The photograph was taken just prior to the donning flight for the trip that was to be Clementine's last. The helicopter was shot down during a rescue mission for a Navy pilot in Korea. Jones survived the crash.

John D. Bryan, United States Navy, was carried aboard the USS Manchester after he was injured on the USS Bass in Wonsan Harbor, Korea. He later died from his injuries.
