Before the war this place was heavily wooded. Very few tree stumps can be recognized in the picture. Quite a few bodies were still unburied when we took these shots. Near this place I happened to need a shoe string and saw a shoe near a shell hole so I made a grab for the shoe but turned it loose as it still had a foot in it. Location is in France.
