Argonne Offensive

We traveled over this road on our way to Charpentry during the Argonne offensive. From an album of Lorain H. Cunningham, who served in the 129th Field Artillery during World War I and was a friend of Harry S. Truman.

Battle Front Area in France Where Boot was Found with Foot Still Inside

Before the war this place was heavily wooded. Very few tree stumps can be recognized in the picture. Quite a few bodies were still unburied when we took these shots. Near this place I happened to need a shoe string and saw a shoe near a shell hole so I made a grab for the shoe but turned it loose as it still had a foot in it. Location is in France. From an album of Lorain H. Cunningham, who served in the 129th Field Artillery during World War I and was a friend of Harry S. Truman.
