Chrysler Assembly Plant in Detroit
Body of a 1958 Plymouth Suburban station wagon is poised over the assembly line, ready to be lowered onto the chassis. This delicate operation is completed as the chassis moves steadily along the conveyorized assembly line. Matching bodies and chassis arrive at the "body drop" at precisely the proper time, thanks to a plant-wide teletype network controlling movement of parts. This assembly line is located at the Chrysler Corporation, Plymouth Division, in Detroit, Michigan. From: Photos used in the 1984 Truman Centennial Exhibit.
