Cooperative learning/using primary sources/critical thinking

Students will design a campaign to promote the Marshall Plan. This ad campaign can be done in the form of posters, speeches, websites, or other multi-media outlets.

Poster analysis and production focusing on George Marshall and The Marshall Plan

Cooperative learning through document analysis, students summarize the worldwide efforts of the Cold War, including the competition for power between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Group activity. Students in class use primary sources like Truman Doctrine speech, Marshall plan, and Iron Curtain speech to discuss foreign policy from US/USSR perspectives at the time of the Cold War.

Students will be able to understand the purposes and outcomes of the Berlin Airlift, the Berlin blockade as a response to the growing Cold War and as the first battle of the Cold War.
