Students will take a letter from Harry Truman to Bess Wallace and compare it to the war material from their textbook.

Students will study the impact of World War I on wheat farmers, learning how a dramatic world event can impact a small sub-set of people.

This lessons aims to present an event in history through the eyes of Wilfred Owen to the students, so they can understand the pain, struggle, and consequences of war. Students will then also see how literature can portray history.

Student will analyze Wilson's Address to Congress Requesting a Declaration of War with Germany.

This exercise will enable students to understand how each individual’ personal bias could be affected by evidence presented to them, in this case, posters of WWI.

A variety of primary sources reveal the complexity of historical interpretation and memory from the point of view of President Truman and his contemporaries.

Students will analyze American propaganda posters from World War I.

Students will learn about the Great Migration through discussion, analyzing primary sources in cooperative groups, watching a TED Talk, and reading an excerpt of a secondary source.

Students will use computer technology to analyze Internet websites containing primary and secondary sources that contain a variety of documents related to U.S. intervention in Russia from 1918-20.

The students are instructed that they will select a president of the United States and have to research who had a great deal of influence on the policy that was supported and put into place by that president.
