The Berlin Airlift was a significant factor in the future of the Cold War. This activity will be used in class as a bridge to the Cold War era, helping students to understand East and West Berlin.

After viewing the PowerPoint titled Israel and the American Cyrus which deals with the influences on President Truman's decision to recognize Israel and the birth of Israel as a nation, students will write to prompts.

Students will use primary sources to study the Berlin Blockade and discuss options Truman may have contemplated.

Create a meal (or meals) to complete a day's worth of calories for Berliners at the time of the Airlift and present to class in order to visualize what they were actually eating.

Students will be developing a CD with a compilation of jazz songs that best exemplifies the Jazz Era (1920s-1930s). They will create a CD cover, an insert with each song title, its lyrics, and justification for why the song was included in the album.

This will be an individual learning assignment that will require the use of artifacts and other primary sources from the Emma Goldman Papers project by the University of California-Berkeley and Public Broadcasting Station (PBS).

There will be cooperative learning as students will be working in groups of 4-5 and analyzing secondary sources concerning Cap Anson and primary sources from after Jackie Robinson's playing days.

This will be an introductory paired learning activity. The students, working in teams, analyze the rapid rise in automobiles and the growing need for a stable road system in the United States/Missouri.

Political Cartoons from the Red Scare will be analyzed.
