The purpose of this lesson is for the students to realize that though Lincoln was faced with numerous
challenges throughout his presidency his goals remained steadfast and his convictions firm, as is clearly
evidenced by his speeches.

Using the primary sources provided, students will work in groups to evaluate six different presidential campaigns from 1952 - 2008.

This is a document-based-question assignment that requires the students to construct a coherent essay that integrates their interpretation of primary source documents and their knowledge of the time period referenced in the question.
