Students will study communism as it related to the Cold War. In particular, they will study the Korean War and the war in Vietnam. They will watch clips of speeches on the SmartBoard, read articles, and build a mock fallout shelter in the classroom.

Students will create a timeline of the period 1950-1989. This will be used at the beginning of the unit on the latter part of the 20th century. It will be an ongoing project as we work through the unit.

The Berlin Airlift was a significant factor in the future of the Cold War. This activity will be used in class as a bridge to the Cold War era, helping students to understand East and West Berlin.
