NBC correspondent Frank Bourgholtzer sets the scene for President Harry S. Truman's address in Little Rock, AR, at the Dedication of the World War Memorial Park. The President spoke at 2:30 p.m. His opening words referred to Sidney S. McMath, Governor of Arkansas, and Sam M. Wassell, Mayor of Little Rock. The address was carried on a nationwide radio broadcast. Mayor Wassell introduced President Truman. President Truman was in town for the reunion of the 35th Division Association. After President Truman's remarks are recordings of music played by the NBC string ensemble directed by Bernard Berquist. The first piece is unidentified; the second piece is Debussy's "The Girl With the Flaxen Hair" performed on harp by Alberto Salvi. After the music is an advertisement for Broadway Chevrolet, 717 W. Broadway, Louisville, KY. The recording finishes with reversed sound of piano music and the narrator of Good Music Hour, featuring Strauss's "Morgen" which ends abruptly. President Truman's remarks are unrestricted, but the other portions of this recording may be subject to copyright. From: Louisville Free Public Library.
