Description

In an address to a joint session of Congress today, Admiral Chester Nimitz called on his countrymen to make certain that "no future war may ever again find us unprepared." Admiral Nimitz received a tumultuous greeting from members of Congress when he arrived at the Capitol for the address. On the rostrum are Speaker Sam Rayburn (R) and Senator Kenneth McKellar (L), President Pro Tempore of the Senate. From: Beth Gore.
