Description
General Jonathan M. Wainwright today told the House of Representatives that only "the memory and hope of America" sustained him and his men through the dark days of their confinement and the "inhuman treatment" by the enemy. The General was given a thunderous ovation by members of the House. Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn is seated behind General Wainwright. From: Beth Gore.
