In the executive stateroom of "The Independence": three flight instruments, indicating the speed, altitude, and compass heading of the special mission Douglas DC-6; a clock over the six locking drawers of the built-in wardrobe; roll maps pulled down from a case recessed in the ceiling, and the elk hide-covered bed-divan.
