Description
Ships take part in the celebrations held on Navy Day in New York Harbor. The destroyer USS Renshaw, carrying President Harry S. Truman, followed by the destroyers Welles and Hobby and the destroyer escort Finnegan, heads upstream in the fleet review. The aircraft carrier USS Midway is completing her 21-gun salute. Anchored ships are, from the foreground, the USS Augusta, the USS Midway, the USS Enterprise, the USS Missouri, the USS New York, the USS Helena, and the USS Macon. From the scrapbooks of Matt Connelly, Vol. 1.
