Description
This is a photograph of a political cartoon by Victor Gillam, originally published in 1898. Entitled "Back to Work," Uncle Sam farms his land as he is pulled by an elephant and a donkey. A sign outside of an adjacent factory reads: "For Sale: Grain to Feed the World" and the caption reads: "Uncle Sam -- 'Having satisfactorily settled that little difficulty with Spain, I will now get to work on the great grain harvest of 1898.'"
