President Harry S. Truman throws out the first pitch at a baseball game between Washington and St. Louis. Front row, from left to right: Reathel Odum, Mrs. Bess W. Truman, William Hassett (partly obscured by President Truman), President Truman, Admiral William Leahy, Washington Senators owner Clark Griffith, and Secret Service agent George Drescher. Second row, left to right: George Allen, Matthew Connelly. Behind Admiral Leahy is Secretary of the Treasury Fred Vinson. Behind Mr. Hassett is Senator Alben Barkley. Secret Service agent James Rowley stands in second row between Griffith and Drescher. All others are unidentified. From the scrapbooks of Matthew Connelly, Volume 1.
