Dedication of New Baptist Church at Grandview, Missouri. President Harry S. Truman in pulpit. President Truman led the capacity crowd of more than 400 persons in the formal Act of Dedication, after speaking briefly on the 102-year history of the church and his family's association with it. Sitting on the platform from left to right are: Reverend I.F. Whitcomb, a Baptist associational pastor, Revered Welbern Bowman, pastor of the church; Dr. T.W. Meaderis, Jefferson City, superintendent of the Missouri Baptist General Association; Reverend Hallie Rice, pastor of the Oak Grove Baptist Church; John Van Aken, church choir director. Behind President Truman are the members of the 30-voice choir. Members of the Truman family and the presidential staff are in the first two rows on the left side. All others unidentified.
