Bess Wallace Truman (left) and former President Harry S. Truman (right) greet their grandchildren in New York City. Former President Harry S. Truman is holding William W. Daniel in his right arm and Clifton Truman Daniel is being held by both Bess Wallace Truman and Harry S. Truman. They were in the city baby-sitting and were on hand to welcome their daughter and son-in-law upon their arrival in New York by ship after a nine-week European tour.
