Description

Mary C. Dondero with newspaper headlined, "Truman Elected!" She is holding the Portsmouth Herald. It is autographed "To a wonderful President, Harry S. Truman, from Mary C. Dondero, National Committee Woman from New Hampshire." The caption from the Portsmouth Herald says: When you think of the Democratic party in Portsmouth, you think about Mrs. Mary Carey Dondero for she is just about it, as far as the party is concerned and her pleasure over the way the city vote went in Tuesday's election is well expressed by the smile she wears while reading the good news. Donor: Mary C. Dondero (photograph given to Bill Simmons at the White House on June 17, 1952)
