Description

Police pour cooking oil over junior high school children to soothe their burns. Photo was taken on the Miyuki Bridge between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. about 1.4 miles from the hypocenter, Hiroshima, Japan. The journalist photographer was the only person to capture images of the destruction on the day of the atomic bombing.
