President Harry S. Truman throws out the first pitch at Griffith Stadium on the opening day of baseball season. Front row, from left to right: Admiral Robert Dennison, Margaret Truman, First Lady Bess W. Truman, Harry S. Truman, Robert Landry, Philadelphia Athletics owner Connie Mack, and Vice President Alben Barkley. Behind Vice President Barkley is Washington Senators Manager Bucky Harris. Between Mr. Mack and Mr. Barkley is Washington Senators owner Clark Griffith. All others are unidentified.
