Description

Two unidentified Japanese cultural preservation society performers balancing on the tops of ladders. They are recreating the Edo period matchibikeshi (fire brigade) annual new year festival acrobatic performances (dezomeshiki), which were used to warn people about the dangers of fires and to promote the skills of the brigades.
