Exterior view of what is believed to be the Dormition Cathedral also called Assumption Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church located within the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius Monastery in the town of Sergiev Posad (Zagorsk) just northeast of Moscow, Russia. According to Charles Thayer's curriculum vitae: "In 1955 I made an extended tour of European and Asiatic Russia and wrote a series for the Saturday Evening Post on post-Stalinist Soviet Union." Although photo is not identified, this photograph is believed to have been taken during that trip. Thayer mentions visit in his diary entry for December 5, 1955.
