Connie Mack, founder and former owner of the Philadelphia Athletics, is shown talking to former President Harry S. Truman at the American League opener between the Kansas City Athletics and Detroit Tigers. Kansas City fans gave the 92 year old Mack a resounding ovation as he took his seat in Municipal Stadium to watch his team beat Detroit.
