President Harry S. Truman (base of stairs) and General Lewis A. Pick descend the stairs of the speakers' platform after the President addressed the crowd at Fort Peck Dam, Montana. In shadow, on the left, are Bess and Margaret Truman. The dam was developed for flood control and irrigation for the upper Mississippi-Missouri River basin.
