Description

Composite photo of two Convair L-13 planes, one in flight and one landing on the water with floats. These are examples of planes viewed by President Truman during his visit to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in October 1949, to review airborne maneuvers as well as to review 20,000 troops and inspect new artillery weapons. The all-metal, all-purpose Convair L-13, built at San Diego by Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation. At the time of viewing, Consolidated Vultee was studying a proposed engine change from a 245-horsepower Franklin engine to a newly designed Continental air-cooled engine rated at 285-hp.
